The Water Treatment Plant Superintendent is responsible for oversight of the City’s Class IV Water Treatment Plant, source water operations, water storage towers, lime lagoons, and related infrastructure, including the operation, maintenance, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement of all components of the water treatment system.
The Water Treatment Plant is tasked with producing and delivering safe, high‑quality drinking water; monitoring and optimizing treatment processes; maintaining compliance with federal and state drinking water regulations; administering water quality monitoring; managing treatment chemicals and operational resources; and overseeing the maintenance, repair, and rehabilitation of water treatment infrastructure.
QUALIFICATIONS- Associate of Applied Science degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field or equivalent education or related training; or five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in water treatment plant operations, including experience at a Class III or higher facility; at least two (2) years in a supervisory or lead operator role.
- Must possess and maintain a valid State of Ohio Driver’s License.
- Must possess a valid Ohio EPA Class IV Water Supply Certification, or possess a Class III Water Supply Certification with the ability to obtain Class IV certification within thirty (30) months of appointment.
- Maintain residency in Shelby County or an adjacent county within 12 months of hire.
