Project Engineer
As a Project Engineer, you will support new product development of HVAC products including, but not limited to, fixed speed and variable speed single and multi-capacity refrigerant compressors. You will be responsible for the evaluation, maturation, and development of new design technologies to improve efficiency, reduce cost, improve reliability and enable compressors for a new generation of environmentally friendly refrigerants. In addition to this, you will provide engineering direction and execution of projects into full production while working in a cross-functional team-oriented environment with local and global colleagues.
As a Project Engineer you will:
- Provide thought leadership, critical thinking, inquisitive approach, and a high degree of independent engineering knowledge to global, multi-functional product development teams.
- Support internal/external customers and global multi-functional colleagues by presenting technical data and project achievements & updates.
- Collaborate with sales, application engineering, marketing, and quality teams in customer communications, commitments, and issue resolution. Develop proficiency/mastery in existing calculators and engineering tools, along with the facilitation and creation of new design and analysis tools as needed.
- Conceive and implement development and testing plans with an approach towards risk mitigation, while coordinating with appropriate resources for timely execution.
- Apply and support the incorporation of Lean principles and techniques into the New Product Development process.
- Serve as a technical resource and mentor capable of developing engineers to follow a disciplined, technical problem-solving process.
Schedule:
This role is hybrid eligible with the requirement to be in office at least three days per week. Colleagues are expected to demonstrate a collaboration first mindset, which is the understanding that teams will work together in-person and colleagues should be flexible to adjust their hybrid days based on business needs. You will have an opportunity to work with your team and leader to determine when you should be in office to drive meaningful connections and to best serve our customers.
Required education, experience, & skills:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Excellent presentation, written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficient in the use of various office computer programs such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
- Proficient in the use of various engineering computer programs such as NX/Solid Works, ANSYS, and Minitab.
- Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple assignments with multiple disciplines.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States, unrestricted for an unlimited period of time - Sponsorship will not be provided for this role.
Preferred education, experience, & skills:
- Two (2) years of relevant work experience in development of electrically driven rotating equipment or similar fields.
- Experience in core engineering principles in the areas of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, mechanics, materials, statics, dynamics, machine design, and/or tribology.
- Experience working with and/or implementing lean techniques into the product development process.
- Ability to communicate with technical, manufacturing, and business leaders at all levels.
