Acute Care Nurse Manager

Department Description

Wilson Health's Acute Care Department is a 23‑bed medical‑surgical‑telemetry unit. This unit is where patients receive active but short‑term treatment for a severe injury or episode of illness, an urgent medical condition, or during recovery from surgery.

Job Summary

The Medical‑Surgical Telemetry Health Unit Coordinator (HUC)/Patient Care Technician (PCT) prepares and compiles records in the nursing unit of the hospital facility and provides essential patient care under the direction of the Registered Nurse.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the computer entry of patient information/registration and physician orders to ensure continuity of care.
  • Assist with the coordination of activities of the unit and ensures the necessary supplies are available to provide patient care.
  • Assure open and timely communication with the patient, their significant others, and team members to ensure the occurrence of therapeutic interventions.
  • Under the direction of the RN/LPN, assists in meeting the physical and emotional needs of the patient on his/her assigned unit. The patient population would include the young‑middle aged adult patient, and the geriatric patient.
  • Under the direction of the RN/LPN, carries out assigned treatments and procedures.
  • The HUC/PCT shall provide care based on ethical concepts, respect for life, dignity, human worth and the individuality of human beings.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Successfully completed an approved Nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program; or three to six months related hospital experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support.
