Employment Status: Full-Time
Working Hours: 40 hours a week (80 hours per pay period)
Shift: 1st shift (9am-5:30pm) with weekend on‑call requirements (Every 4th weekend call)

Description:
Wilson Health’s Surgical Services Department performs more than 4,000 inpatient and outpatient surgeries and other procedures annually in the fields of gynecology, orthopedics, ophthalmology, general surgery, ear, nose and throat surgery, urology, podiatry, plastic surgery and endoscopy, as well as radiology interventional procedures. Board-certified surgeons and anesthesiologists, highly skilled registered nurses, surgical technologists, sterile processing technicians, medical assistants and X‑ray technologists staff the department.
The Sterile Processing Team Lead is responsible for organizing, coordinating, planning, and evaluating the operations of sterile processing maintaining high standards for decontamination, assembly, inspecting, wrapping and sterilization of surgical instruments and medical equipment for Surgical Services and ancillary departments.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:- Provides cost effective management of supply and equipment resources
- Monitors quality standards which include working conditions, quality assurance, and infection control activities.
- Maintains a positive supportive communication system.
- Clinical orientation/continuing education/staff development: supports continuing education programs for Sterile Processing personnel. Participates in projects and programs directed toward personal and professional growth.
- Participates in personnel performance appraisal according to departmental and hospital policies. Interviews prospective employees along with the Director of Surgery.
- Performs cleaning and sterilization/decontamination on reusable medical equipment, and prepares packs of supplies, linens, and instruments for surgical cases and distributes as needed
- Provides inspection for visible physical damage and reports such damage appropriately for immediate repair/replacement direction
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot the operations of steam sterilizers, ETO, Sterrrad NX, Washer/sanitizer and sonic equipment
- Maintain computerized detailed lists of various trays and their components
- Ensures that necessary patient safety precautions are taken
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prefer basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel)
- Certified in Sterile Processing from a nationally recognized professional association preferred. (Certified Registered Central Services Technician (CRCST through International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materials Management.))
- Sterile Processing experience required (3-5 years experience), leadership/supervisory experience preferred
