Department Description

The Patient Care Technician team at Wilson Health plays an important role in supporting bedside patient care. Working closely with nurses and other clinical staff, PCTs assist with daily patient care needs and help ensure a safe, supportive, and compassionate environment for patients and families. The patient population may include pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.

Job Summary

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides bedside nursing care and performs general unit duties under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse. In this role, you assist in meeting the physical and emotional needs of patients while supporting the nursing team in delivering high-quality care. Key Responsibilities
  • Assist RN/LPN in meeting the physical and emotional needs of patients on the assigned unit
  • Support patient care activities for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients
  • Carry out assigned treatments and procedures under the direction of nursing staff
  • Maintain professional standards of practice and demonstrate competence in patient care tasks
  • Provide care that respects the dignity, individuality, and worth of each patient
  • Support a safe, respectful, and compassionate care environment
  • Perform additional duties as assigned within the scope of the department
Qualifications
  • Successful completion of an approved Nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program, or three to six months of related hospital experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • High school diploma or GED required (if hired since January 1988)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English
Certifications
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
