Summary:
Under the direction of the physician/provider, the Clinical Medical Assistant/Licensed Practical Nurse will perform all clinical duties typically required in a medical office, while also assuming Patient Service Representative duties as needed. These responsibilities may include greeting and assisting patients, scheduling appointments, registration, answering telephone calls, verifying demographic and insurance information, collecting payments, and providing general administrative support to ensure efficient patient flow and a positive patient experience.
The Clinical Medical Assistant/Licensed Practical Nurse shall report directly to the assigned Office Manager of Wilson Health Medical Group. All Clinical Medical Assistant/Licensed Practical Nurses are required to maintain continuous certification and licensure as applicable to their position.
Essential duties and responsibilities include performing all duties under the supervision of the physician/provider and within established clinical guidelines, anticipating duties that need to be performed and striving to make the physician/provider as efficient and effective as possible, greeting patients courteously and escorting them to examination rooms in a helpful and compassionate manner, obtaining and accurately recording vital signs, chief complaint, current medications, and allergies, assisting the physician/provider with examinations and procedures, providing patient and family education related to medical conditions and care, documenting patient information in the medical record accurately, appropriately, and thoroughly, assisting with ordering diagnostic tests and procedures, making referrals, and completing referral-tracking documentation within the practice management system, communicating with patients and family members in a professional and compassionate manner, performing quality control measures on medical testing equipment, refrigerators, sterilizers, and other applicable equipment, maintaining appropriate inventory levels of medical and laboratory supplies and ordering supplies according to established guidelines, following all applicable federal and state laws and regulations, including HIPAA Privacy and Security Practices, as well as all Wilson Health Medical Group and Wilson Health policies and procedures, assisting with scheduling patients, faxing and electronic communications, telephone duties, form completion, and other clerical responsibilities necessary to maintain an efficient and effective medical office, assuming Patient Service Representative duties as needed to support the daily operations of the medical office, greeting and assisting patients with registration, check-in, check-out, scheduling, and other front-office processes, answering incoming telephone calls, directing calls appropriately, taking messages, and providing information to patients in a professional and courteous manner, verifying and updating patient demographic, contact, and insurance information as required, assisting with insurance verification, referrals, authorizations, and other patient access functions as assigned, collecting patient payments and providing receipts in accordance with established Wilson Health policies and procedures, assisting patients with questions regarding appointments, office services, forms, and other non-clinical needs, directing clinical questions to the appropriate provider or clinical staff, balancing clinical and front-office responsibilities while maintaining patient confidentiality, accuracy, professionalism, and a positive patient experience, providing coverage for PSR staff as needed and assisting with maintaining efficient patient flow throughout the office, and performing other duties as assigned by the physician/provider or Office Manager.
