Quality Manager

Overview

SEMCORP Manufacturing USA LLC, a subsidiary of SEMCORP, operates the first lithium-ion battery separator factory in North America, situated in Ohio. SEMCORP is recognized for its production and sales of lithium-ion battery base film and functional coating separators. By establishing this factory, SEMCORP expands its innovative manufacturing capabilities and services to new markets.

The Quality Manager is responsible for leading the site quality management system and ensuring products and processes consistently meet internal standards, customer requirements, and applicable regulatory and certification requirements. This role drives a strong quality culture, supports manufacturing excellence, and leads continuous improvement initiatives across SEMCORP Manufacturing USA operations.

• Lead and maintain the site Quality Management System in compliance with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or other applicable standards
• Develop, implement, and maintain quality policies, procedures, and work instructions
• Ensure effective document control, change management, and record retention

• Oversee product and process quality across manufacturing operations
• Establish and monitor quality metrics (FPY, scrap, defects, customer complaints)
• Partner with Operations and Engineering to drive defect prevention and process capability improvements

• Plan and lead internal audits; support customer, supplier, and third-party audits
• Ensure timely and effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
• Maintain compliance with customer, regulatory, and certification requirements
• Serve as primary quality contact for customer quality issues and escalations
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions using 8D, A3, DMAIC, or similar methodologies
• Collaborate with Supply Chain and SQE teams to ensure supplier quality performance
• Champion continuous improvement initiatives to reduce variation, scrap, and rework
• Promote use of quality tools such as SPC, PFMEA, control plans, and MSA
• Support new product introductions (NPI) and process changes from a quality perspective

• Lead, coach, and develop quality engineers, technicians, and inspectors
• Provide training on quality systems, standards, and problem-solving tools
• Foster a culture of quality ownership and accountability at all levels

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing quality roles, with leadership experience
• Strong knowledge of QMS standards (ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or equivalent)
• Experience with customer audits, corrective actions, and quality metrics
• Proven ability to lead teams and influence cross-functional stakeholders

Preferred

• Experience in battery materials, separators, polymers, or advanced manufacturing
• Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher)
• ASQ certification (CQE, CQM, or similar)
• Experience supporting high-volume or highly regulated manufacturing
• Manufacturing floor and office environment
• Ability to support off-shift or weekend activities as needed

On-site position at SEMCORP Manufacturing USA, LLC facility. Regular exposure to manufacturing environments requiring use of PPE. Some travel may be required between company sites and for regulatory meetings or audits
