Inspects production parts to ensure they meet quality specifications and standards.
Starting Rate of Pay$23.03/hr plus $1.00 shift differential on the 3rd shift.
Shift and Hours3rd shift Monday‑Friday, 10:00 PM–6:30 AM.
Responsibilities- Read and accurately interpret Hydro Extrusion engineering drawings, specifications, and industry standards.
- Use inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, protractors, height gauges, dial indicators, check fixtures, and other measuring instruments to verify dimensions against blueprint specifications.
- Complete and file all inspection documents (data sheets, SPC charts, first‑piece samples, etc.) in accordance with the Hydro Extrusion Quality Manual.
- Perform receiving inspection, gauge calibration, first‑piece layouts, floor inspection, and extrusion inspection to ensure product quality.
- Randomly check parts at all machines and assembly areas as required; halt production and consult a supervisor if quality does not meet customer standards.
- Inspect incoming extrusion for correct part number, hardness, dimensions, etc.
- Inspect purchased parts and material returned from customers.
- Inspect first‑piece setups to confirm compliance with blueprints.
- Use the portable fixed‑table CMM and/or Vision system to measure dimensions of prototype parts, purchased parts, and parts in production according to engineering and customer blueprints.
- Check the accuracy of welds and check fixtures.
- Identify broken, worn, or out‑of‑tolerance parts.
- Compose a detailed report of inspected items.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area; exercise good housekeeping.
- Display a professional and positive attitude at all times.
- Willing to cross‑train on other jobs throughout the plant as needed.
- Work overtime if required, with little or no prior notice.
- 2‑year technical degree or equivalent, or 2‑5 years of quality assurance experience (preferred).
- High‑school diploma required.
- Ability to interpret Hydro Extrusion engineering drawings, specifications, and industry standards.
- Completion of a blueprint‑reading course (required).
- Experience evaluating manufacturing processes with surface plates, hand‑layout tools, and measurement devices.
- Careful handling of CMM components to ensure device accuracy and condition.
- Demonstrated ability to set up the CMM (portable or fixed table and/or Vision system) and sample piece for accurate measurements.
- Ability to detect visual and measurable material defects.
- Accurate completion of forms and maintenance of accessible records.
- Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills.
- Multitasking capability.
- Quick response to problems in a stressful environment.
- Effective communication with co‑workers, supervisors, and managers, both written and verbal.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Adherence to plant‑wide safety procedures.
- Pass a drug/alcohol screen and physical exam (accommodations per ADA).
- Ability to lift 20–50 pounds frequently during a scheduled shift.
- Successful completion of a 90‑day orientation period.
