Job Purpose:

Operate downstream production machinery safely and efficiently, maintain appropriate documentation, communicate ideas and problems to relevant staff, perform scheduled preventative maintenance, handle downstream equipment changeovers, and ensure the best quality product is produced. The role also includes all responsibilities of a Production Associate.

Key Responsibilities and Duties
  • Ensure the safe and efficient operation of all downstream equipment to meet or exceed company OEE expectations and customer quality expectations.
  • Follow Lock Out/Tag Out policy, wear proper PPE, and observe Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Operate fire extinguishers safely and maintain knowledge of safety equipment.
  • Proactively address unsafe conditions on production equipment and report all unsafe acts or conditions to the Shift Production Supervisor immediately.
  • Avoid the use of utility knives on the production floor and participate in scheduled safety training.
  • Obey all machine guards and safety warnings.
  • Produce and/or pack the best quality product at all times, ensuring all production meets or exceeds customer standards and is properly labeled or tagged.
  • Place all non-conforming products on hold with proper documentation.
  • Perform data collection of quality measurements and ensure all quality checks are completed and recorded in the NWA Quality Monitor or plant-specific form at scheduled intervals.
  • Record raw material lot numbers as required and communicate out-of-specification conditions to appropriate personnel.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks as outlined by the plant PM program, addressing machine inefficiencies and maintaining equipment in showroom condition.
  • Tag components or parts that require repair, replacement, or improvement according to TPM guidelines.
  • Execute downstream production equipment changeovers per plant schedule using SMED procedures, ensuring minimal downtime and safe operation after each changeover.
  • Maintain sufficient records to support the CMMS system (Micro Main) and record parts removed from inventory on appropriate documentation.
  • Notify the Maintenance Manager when parts inventory reaches low or reorder points, and complete required paperwork and electronic data entry for all Micro Main work orders.
  • Generate quick tickets for emergency repairs and coordinate with the Production Manager regarding training and employee development.
  • Communicate problems, progress reports, and continuous improvement ideas to management, maintenance, and production personnel.
  • Promote and maintain good housekeeping habits to ensure plant appearance exceeds management and customer expectations, perform daily, weekly, and periodic cleaning tasks per the Master Cleaning Schedule, and complete line sanitization tasks per the Master Sanitization Schedule.
  • Maintain a clean work area, empty all garbage cans at shift conclusion, sweep and/or mop production floor areas, clean equipment when dirty or stained, and organize and maintain clean work stations.
  • Maintain accurate production reporting documentation, complete downstream operator checklists, and document machine or process changes.
  • Actively participate in plant teams and activities such as safety, quality, sustainability, community involvement, OEE, maintenance, employee wellness, brainstorming, and continuous improvement to create and maintain a world‑class environment.
  • Engage in personal development by setting SMART goals, requesting regular meetings with managers, volunteering for plant improvement teams, seeking additional training and higher education opportunities, and exceeding self‑development and performance goals.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent; successful completion of entrance examinations and interviews is required.
  • Demonstrated sense of urgency, accountability, professionalism, self‑motivation, and a focus on business improvement.

Pay Range
