Electro-Mechanical Technician – Advanced Manufacturing Technology
Copeland in Sidney, Ohio is seeking an Electro-Mechanical Technician to join the Advanced Manufacturing Technology (AMT) team. In this role, you will become the technical champion for our precision measurement technology by providing hands-on support, resolving complex electro-mechanical, controls, software, and metrology-related issues while improving equipment reliability and performance.
The ideal candidate will have experience servicing high-precision technology utilizing pneumatics, servo controls, and air-bearing technology. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, calibration, equipment upgrades, and technical support for manufacturing operations.
As an Electro-Mechanical Technician, you will:
- Install, calibrate, maintain, and repair precision metrology equipment incorporating pneumatic systems, servo drives, controls, and air-bearing stages.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control-system issues using structured troubleshooting methods, schematics, and diagnostic software.
- Provide on-site and remote technical support and train users on equipment operation and preventive maintenance.
- Develop and maintain service documentation, bills of material, and spare parts records.
- Establish preventive maintenance plans and recommend equipment improvements and upgrades.
- Perform precision alignment and calibration to specified tolerances.
- Collaborate with internal engineering teams and equipment suppliers to improve system reliability and performance.
- Travel to production sites as required and participate in after-hours support when needed.
- Follow all applicable safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
Schedule:
You will typically work a 40-hour work week with the option for flexible scheduling Monday through Friday. Work hours may be adjusted as needed to support business requirements. This is a fully onsite position.
Required Education, Experience, &
Skills:
- Associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field; or 10+ years of relevant hands-on experience.
- Experience with pneumatics, electrical systems, servo drives, motors, and precision motion-control equipment.
- Strong ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
- Proficiency with diagnostic and test equipment, including multimeters and oscilloscopes.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard PC applications.
- Ability to travel up to 25%.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States; sponsorship is not available.
Preferred Education, Experience, &
Skills:
- Experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, or similar software.
- Knowledge of servo amplifiers, motion controllers, and PID tuning.
- Familiarity with air-bearing technology.
- Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
