Mechanical Technician

Based out of our Sidney, OH location, you will support the design, development, and qualification of oil-free centrifugal compressors for HVACR systems. Starting with bearing assembly, this role offers an exciting opportunity to work alongside project engineers in a state-of-the-art laboratory environment assembling, testing, and validating Centrifugal components.

As a Mechanical Technician, you will:

  • Work with engineers to create and test bearing technology specific to Copeland Centrifugal compression
  • Operate laboratory assembly and measurement equipment, including laser welders, hydraulic presses, micrometers, torque wrenches, pressure gauges, voltage meters, and standard hand tools
  • Fabricate supporting components for standard and non-standard tests, including heat treating, welding, brazing, soldering, grinding, sanding/lapping, drilling/tapping, and wiring
  • Collect and document build data to ensure compliance with standards and takt times
  • Assist with general laboratory upkeep and maintenance, 5S+1 audits, safety walks, and quality checks

Schedule:

This position is for 1st shift and would consist of five-eight-hour workdays. Capable of working overtime. This role is based fully onsite and not eligible for hybrid or remote work opportunities.

Required Education, Experience &

Skills:

  • Associate degree in a related field and three (3) years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics
  • Practical, hands-on experience working with mechanical equipment and basic instrumentation.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer applications
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States is required. Sponsorship is not available for this position

Preferred Education, Experience &

Skills:

  • Five (5) or more years of experience in a manufacturing or laboratory environment
  • Hands-on expertise in mechanical and/or electrical manufacturing equipment
  • Tool and die experience
  • Familiarity with controls systems and basic PLC concepts
  • Experience with brazing and soldering techniques
  • Background or certifications in automotive or diesel mechanics
