Position: Staff Nurse Specialist- Surgical Services- FT

Wilson Health is seeking a Staff Nurse Specialist for our Surgical Services Department in Sidney, Ohio. The position combines the responsibilities of a Clinical Educator and Staff RN
. The Clinical Educator component provides educational support, including needs assessments, standardized education, orientation, competency assessments, regulatory, accreditation and certification. The Staff RN component delivers general nursing care to patients and families while collaborating with the healthcare team.

Wilson Health’s Surgical Services Department performs more than 4,000 inpatient and outpatient surgeries and other procedures annually in the fields of gynecology, orthopedics, ophthalmology, general surgery, ENT, urology, podiatry, plastic surgery, and endoscopy, as well as radiology interventional procedures.

The department is staffed by board‑certified surgeons, anesthesiologists, highly skilled registered nurses, surgical technologists, sterile processing technicians, medical assistants, and X‑ray technologists.

The Role You’ll Contribute:
  • Support the educational needs of clinical staff for the advancement of clinical practice and professional development. Provide orientation for new personnel, in‑service education, and continued education to meet staff needs.
  • Utilize evidence‑based methodology to build educational plans and programs.
  • Demonstrate expertise in clinical practice and continually evaluate quality data to guide educational needs.
  • Collaborate with nursing and interprofessional leadership, the Professional Practice Organization, and other Wilson Health entities to implement nursing education and professional development programs.
  • Serve as a resource to the nursing staff.
  • Model and implement change. Serve as a role model for clinical staff.
  • Apply design principles and integrate technology to ensure effective learning experiences.
  • Provide the highest quality care experience for Wilson Health’s patients and their families.
  • Assist Director with day‑to‑day operations and support various operational functions, including leading and supporting staff as appropriate.

The Expertise and Experience You’ll Need to Succeed:
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing
  • 3‑5 years perioperative clinical experience with operating room and PACU experience (required)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a clinical preceptor or nurse educator
  • Current RN license valid in the state of Ohio or ability to obtain before hire
  • Current CNOR
  • Ability to test for ASPAN within 2 years
  • Current BLS
  • Current ACLS
  • Current PALS or obtain prior to hire
