Wilson Health is seeking a School Nurse to join our Occupational Health team at various locations in the Sidney City School District. This position is as needed — some travel required to go to other school locations. Hours for this position are 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday. FLSA Status: PRN. PRN employees provide supplemental staffing to meet patient care demands and departmental workloads.
PRN employees are not guaranteed a minimum or maximum number of hours in any pay period, nor are they assigned a regular schedule. Patient care needs and departmental workload determine the number of available PRN hours. PRN employees may work in scheduled positions on a temporary basis for coverage due to vacancies, vacations, or leaves of absence until the positions are filled by full‑time or part‑time staff.
PRN employees are not eligible for employee benefits such as health insurance, paid time off (PTO), sick time, jury duty pay, or bereavement pay. To maintain PRN status, each employee must: a. Meet all minimum qualifications for the position held. b. Maintain competency within their scope of practice. c. Maintain current licensure, registration, and certifications (e.g., BLS, ACLS, PALS, as applicable).
d. Participate in required clinical and skills checklist updates. e. Complete all mandatory orientation, annual education, and department in‑services. f. Attend or review and sign monthly staff meeting minutes. g. Complete a 90‑day orientation evaluation and an annual performance evaluation thereafter. h. Notify the Department Manager promptly of any changes in availability, licensure, or certification status.

Plans/implements a comprehensive school health service program. Student/staff assessment/treatment is limited to the evaluation of symptoms and administering emergency first aid. Duties may require traveling to buildings throughout the district and/or care as ordered per physician orders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Provides school health services. Pursues ongoing program improvements.
- Functions. Communicates program objectives/performance expectations to students/parents.
- Keeps current with state standards/guidelines. Collaborates with staff, students, families and the community to delineate short/long‑range school health service needs/opportunities.
- Serves as the district’s blood‑borne pathogen compliance officer and staff trainer.
- Prepares the school clinic.
- Requisition s required supplies.
- Implements procedures to ensure that all medicines are administered and stored safely.
- Implements protocols to safeguard student information shared with staff and/or referral sources.
- Assists sick and injured students/staff. Administers first aid. Investigates and documents injuries – Notifies parents or guardians.
- Documents care given in a timely manner. Prepares/submits Medicaid and/or equivalent reimbursement documentation within required deadlines.
- Reviews medical emergency authorization forms. Ensures that permission forms are on file as needed for the release of health information. Communicates information to staff when required.
- Ensures that all required state minimum student health screening activities are completed.
- Ensures that the immunization status of all students complies with state law.
- Prepares medical reports (e.g., census data, county/state health department, intervention assistance teams, pupil services, etc.).
- Consults with student’s doctor to make exclusion or school readmission recommendations.
- Evaluates visual, hearing, or other student health concerns. Recommends medical referrals.
