Quality Assurance - QA/QC
Quality Engineering, Regulatory Compliance Specialist, Quality Control - QC Analysts/Managers, Production QC/QA
Industrial Recyclers, LLC is a leading plastics recycler headquartered in Sidney, Ohio, operating multiple processing facilities across Ohio and Indiana. We process post-industrial and post-consumer plastics — including regrind, blends, and specialty material streams — into high-quality recycled resin sold to manufacturers across North America.
We are in an active growth phase, building the systems, certifications, and talent required to scale. The Quality Manager role is a critical leadership hire as we build our ISO 9001-compliant quality management system from the ground up. This person will not inherit a finished system — they will build one.
Job OverviewThe Quality Manager owns the entire quality function at Industrial Recyclers. This is a hands‑on leadership role responsible for building, staffing, and operating a quality organization that covers the full material journey — from incoming raw material through final packaged product. The Quality Manager leads a team of 5–6 direct reports and works cross‑functionally with Operations, Engineering, and the executive team to drive measurable quality outcomes across all IR facilities.
This role is ideal for a builder — someone who thrives in a structured‑but‑growing environment, is comfortable creating systems where few exist, and brings the organizational skills and technical depth to lead a quality organization through ISO 9001 certification and beyond.
Core ResponsibilitiesQuality Management System (QMS)
- Own, build, and sustain IR’s ISO 9001‑compliant Quality Management System across all facilities
- Lead IR through ISO 9001 certification — gap assessment, documentation, internal audits, and registrar audit
- Maintain the Quality Manual, procedures, work instructions, and controlled document library
- Own the internal audit program — schedule, execute, and close findings
- Develop, and lead a team of 5–6 Quality Technicians / Specialists across IR facilities
- Build a culture of quality ownership on the production floor — quality is everyone’s job, not just QC’s
- Set clear expectations, KPIs, and development plans for each direct report
- Be present across facilities — this is not a behind‑the‑desk role
Non‑Conformance & Corrective Action
- Own the NCR process end‑to‑end: initiation, containment, root cause analysis, corrective action, verification
- Drive 8D, 5 Why or equivalent root cause methodology for recurring issues
- Ensure all customer complaints receive a timely, documented response
- Maintain corrective action tracking and trend analysis
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Engineering on process capability studies and equipment‑related quality issues
- Work with Operations to eliminate quality‑related production delays without sacrificing standards
- Collaborate with the centralized Maintenance team on equipment calibration and PM scheduling as it relates to quality
- Support the executive team with quality data for customer presentations, audits, and the company’s exit readiness initiatives
Required
- ISO 9001
Experience:
Demonstrated experience working within, implementing, or maintaining an ISO 9001 QMS. Familiarity with the standard’s structure, documentation requirements, and audit process is required. - Quality Leadership: 3+ years leading a quality organization or quality team, with direct report responsibility. Experience building or significantly growing a quality function is strongly preferred.
- Plastics / Materials
Experience:
Background in plastics manufacturing, recycling, compounding, or extrusion. Must be able to credibly engage with technical discussions about material properties, contamination, and process controls. - Organizational
Skills:
This role requires managing multiple quality domains across multiple facilities simultaneously. Must be able to build systems, maintain documentation, and execute structured processes with discipline. - Builder Mentality: IR is building its quality organization from the ground up. The right candidate is energized by that, not intimidated by it. Must be comfortable creating structure where little exists.
- Communication:
Must be able to communicate clearly across all levels — production floor technicians, department managers, and executive leadership. Written and verbal clarity required.
Preferred
- Background in recycled resin, post‑industrial, or post‑consumer materials
- Familiarity with extrusion operations, MFI testing, contamination analysis, or sieve testing
- Experience supporting a company through a quality certification for the first time
- CQM, CQE, or equivalent ASQ certification
