Position Summary
The Accounts Payable Technician is responsible for processing, verifying, and reconciling accounts payable transactions, ensuring accurate and timely vendor payments and maintaining vendor relationships. The role also involves assisting staff with travel processes and payments, and ensuring compliance with all related state and college rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Duties and ResponsibilitiesProcesses vendor and student payables and associated transaction tax functions for the District, ensuring appropriate documentation is received to support timely and accurate payments in compliance with all college, state, and federal policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.
Verifies approvals, reviews invoices for discrepancies, reconciles vendor statements, and investigates and resolves vendor and student payable issues as needed.
Maintains the travel authorization, training, and expense processing for the college; assists employees and departments with questions and training, as requested.
Creates and shares data reports for administrative and financial analysis as needed, recommends process improvements or policy changes, compiles data to prepare statistical summaries, and prepares special or recurring reports for administration as necessary while maintaining complete and accurate records.
Prepares annual tax reporting documents and files them in a timely manner.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience RequirementsAssociate’s degree from an institution accredited by an institutional accrediting body of higher education recognized by the US Department of Education.
Two years of related experience.
An equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved may be considered.
Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of and ability to follow college policies and procedures.
Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and guidelines related to assigned work.
Knowledge of accounts payable and general accounting principles, including reconciling methods and techniques.
Knowledge of current technologies and word processing, database, presentation, and spreadsheet software, specifically Microsoft Office applications.
Knowledge of the general proper operation of and the ability to use personal computers and standard office equipment.
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and to relate to others in a professional, helpful manner.
Ability to relate to a diverse population and to maintain composure when faced with difficult situations.
Ability to organize, prioritize, and follow multiple tasks through to completion with attention to detail.
Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment.
Ability to analyze problems, identify solutions, and take appropriate action, resolving problems using independent judgment and decision‑making processes.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, other department staff, students, and the public.

Work EnvironmentWork is primarily performed under general supervision in a typical office setting with appropriate climate controls.
Physical RequirementsEssential functions of this position require lifting, manual dexterity, and the ability to communicate.
Sedentary work:
Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body; involves sitting majority of time; walking and standing are required only occasionally.
Mental application:
Utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, critical thinking, adaptability, and creative problem‑solving skills.
