Position Summary
The Instructor of Cybersecurity, Networking and Computer Information Systems (CIS) is responsible for teaching a range of cybersecurity, networking, and CIS courses for both majors and non‑majors across the district. Full‑time faculty members are professional educators whose primary duty is to provide quality instruction to a diverse student body in accordance with the college’s philosophy, mission, policies, and procedures.
Salary includes a $10,000 Industry Impact Stipend. This position is open until filled, with applications reviewed upon receipt. Salary is dependent upon qualifications: the minimum rate applies to holders of a Bachelor’s degree with no experience; the maximum rate applies to holders of a Doctorate degree with five or more years of full‑time, professional relevant experience.

Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Teach assigned cybersecurity, networking, and CIS courses and associated labs in accordance with the college’s workload policy.
- Maintain written instructional standards and facilitate instruction using alternative delivery methods as needed.
- Inform students in writing of instructional standards, post and maintain office hours, and participate in assessment of student learning outcomes.
- Establish, maintain, and submit accurate student and instructional records in a timely manner.
- Develop new courses, curriculum, instructional materials, and evaluation tools; review and update course outlines, textbooks, laboratories, and course procedure sheets.
- Assist with preparation of course proposals, curriculum updates, and construction of degree/certificate programs.
- Apply and maintain standards of quality operating methods, processes, systems, and procedures; implement changes as necessary to maintain a successful program.
- Integrate industry trends and professional training to continuously improve program and course quality.
- Contribute to maintenance, troubleshooting, and building of hardware and software necessary for deployment of all courses.
- Participate in department course scheduling, departmental, divisional, and college meetings, and serve on college committees as assigned.
- Serve as advisor for cybersecurity, networking, and CIS student organizations.
- Participate in recruitment of prospective students, working with partner institutions to develop and maintain a sustainable recruiting model.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Networking, CIS, or a related discipline from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
- Attainment of professional certification within one calendar year of hiring (Security or higher).
- Experience with the use of technology in lecture and lab settings.
- Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Networking, CIS, or a related discipline from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
- Experience teaching cybersecurity, networking, CIS and/or computer‑related courses in higher education.
- Three years of related professional/industry experience.
- Teaching experience using alternative delivery methods.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of and ability to follow college policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of curriculum and program development.
- Knowledge of computer networking concepts and protocols, and network security methodologies.
- Knowledge of risk management processes and virtualization technologies.
- Skill in identifying security control, using authentic assessment, and integrating technology into curriculum.
