Lifelong Learning Instructor

Position Summary:

The part-time Lifelong Learning Instructor is responsible for conducting and teaching lifelong learning instruction courses. The Center for Lifelong Learning continuously seeks instructors to teach part-time in its program. If you are interested in teaching adults, have knowledge or experience you'd like to share, and a passion for learning - we want to know about you! Typical classes run 4-8 hours for one or two days. Longer classes can be scheduled if necessary based on the program.

In your class proposal, please include your: class topic/title, description of the course, length of course and amount of sessions anticipated. Currently seeking instructors for culinary, management, leadership, soft skills, and computer applications, including Microsoft Office.

Duties and Responsibilities

Within the scope of college policies and procedures, this position: teaches assigned courses to students enrolled and manages a diverse population of students in accordance with the course description and outcomes as outlined in the official course outline, and other approved curricular materials. Develops, prepares and implements lesson plans; conducts pre- and post-assessment of students; evaluates, assesses and plans for students' educational and social needs.

Maintains student records, statistics, and/or other pertinent information as required by the college and/or the department. Resolves issues relevant to area of responsibility and scope of authority, referring more difficult or complex problems to the appropriate college official. Performs other related duties as assigned. General Expectations:
Employees are expected to accomplish assigned duties in an efficient, effective and competent manner and to strive for improvement and excellence in all work performed. Additionally, employees must understand the comprehensive role of the community college and cooperate and work harmoniously with students, faculty and staff, and the public. Employees will follow all college policies, rules, regulations and guidelines as they relate to this position.

Skills and Abilities

Education and experience requirements vary by discipline and course assignment. Knowledge of and ability to follow college policies and procedures. Knowledge of current technologies and word processing, database, presentation, and spreadsheet software, specifically Microsoft Office applications. Knowledge of developing, implementing, and evaluating curriculum and instructional approaches. Skill in using authentic assessment to evaluate students' needs and progress. Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and to relate to others in a professional, helpful manner.

Ability to relate to a diverse population and to maintain composure when faced with difficult situations. Ability to multi-task and organize, prioritize, and follow multiple projects and tasks through to completion with an attention to detail. Ability to work independently while contributing to team environment. Ability to effectively identify and resolve problems and to maintain strict confidentiality related to sensitive information.
