Assists in assigned activities of plant operation functions necessary to maintain the physical structures, HVAC, mechanical, electrical systems, utility systems, and grounds of the hospital in an operative and safe working condition. Performs general maintenance and repair duties to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the physical plant. Receives daily direction from the Director of Plant Operations and may share on‑call responsibilities.
EssentialFunctions
- Report daily to the Director of Plant Operations regarding the physical and structural conditions of hospital facilities and the status of work in progress.
- Apply standards of quality and productivity for the facility.
- Follow policies, procedures, and standards for maintenance and repair of equipment, buildings, and building systems.
- Assist in administering the maintenance program to ensure the uninterrupted operation of the entire physical plant.
- Work closely with other departments and administration. Negotiate priorities, plan work schedules, complete job assignments, and request orders of needed materials, supplies, and parts.
- Perform maintenance repair work, alterations, remodeling, minor construction, and check out installation and servicing of mechanical and electrical equipment and building systems.
- Assist in maintaining stock levels of materials and parts within budgetary constraints.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with state and federal requirements related to the energy management program.
- Assist with coordination of all fire and safety measures throughout the hospital, including inspections and procedures in conjunction with Safety and Security Departments when requested.
- Participate in performance improvement and information management activities.

- Adhere to dress code; appearance neat and clean; wear appropriate identification while on duty.
- Complete annual health, safety, and education requirements; maintain professional growth and development.
- Maintain confidentiality of all patient and/or employee information to protect rights.
- Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles across the lifespan and provide age‑appropriate care to patients.
- Report to work on time as scheduled; adhere to absence notification policies.
- Attend all mandatory in‑services and staff meetings.
- Represent the organization positively and professionally.
- Comply with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
- Communicate the mission, ethics, and goals of the hospital, and the department’s focus statement.
- Maintain current licensure/certification for the position, if applicable.
- Consistently demonstrate Guest Relations skills to patients, physicians, visitors, employees, and any other individuals.
- Consistently follow departmental, hospital, Health, Safety, Security, and Hazardous Materials policies and procedures.
High School diploma or equivalent.
Minimum Qualifications- High School diploma or equivalent.
- At least 2 years of experience in maintenance, preferably in a hospital setting.
- Familiarity with Joint Commission and other regulatory policies and procedures highly preferred.
