Best Veterinary Solutions, Inc., has an immediate opening for a full-time Purchasing Buyer in the Siloam Springs, AR or Ellsworth, IA area. This position will work 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday – Friday located onsite. The Purchasing Buyer will be responsible for maintaining adequate inventory for BVS locations to support customer needs and purchase for all locations in a timely manner to ensure all locations have necessary products.

- Monitor inventory levels using the ERP system.
- Communicate with sales team to monitor product trends, maintain necessary inventory, set up new accounts, and gather new or alternative products.
- Maintain adequate inventory based on past sales and future projected sales.
- Collaborate with sales team to proactively source new products, vendors, and alternative products.
- Submit purchasing orders to supplier.
- Research market to determine best prices for inventory.
- Manage maintenance of reorder points and economic order quantities and adjust as needed.
- Utilize other system capabilities to ensure each location has the product they need when they need it while managing total dollar amounts of all locations.
- Keep record of minimum purchase quantities for select vendors, as well as order quantities to meet prepaid freight and other purchasing incentives.
- Take advantage of vendor purchasing programs as they are available.
- Maintain supply system database for proper sourcing, procurement lead times, order quantities, prices and internal delivery requirements.
- Understand and appropriately manage inventory of new, transitioning, and discontinued product lines.
- Work with BVS Transportation to schedule PO pickups as needed.
- Assist customers and sales representatives with questions and concerns about products with a positive attitude.
- Maintain rapport with all vendors and sales representatives responding to inquiries in a timely manner.
- Attend continuing education opportunities and related training to improve skillset.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Due to the nature of the business buyers must consent to and have the ability to pass a pre‑employment and annual drug test and extensive federal‑level background check.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including active listening.
- Able to handle multiple tasks and effectively work independently.

- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive rapport with suppliers, internal and external customers.
- Have an understanding and experience in packaging and ingredient buying.
- Proficient computer skills with the ability to learn new software.
- Knowledge of, or ability to learn, product, service, or areas of specialization.
- Demonstrated understanding of purchasing and inventory management, product flow and productivity standards.
- Proven negotiation skills.
- Ability to exercise tact, courtesy, and ethics when dealing with suppliers, co‑workers, and customers.
- Ability to communicate in a clear, concise, understandable manner, and listen attentively to others, understand material, and provide feedback to all team members.
- Adjust priorities and manage time wisely in a fast‑paced environment with minimum supervision.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems involving several options with limited information.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software, as well as inventory software.
- Willingness to pursue continuing education opportunities and related training to improve skillset.
- High school degree/GED required.
- Degree in business administration, procurement, or a related field preferred.
- At least two years of purchasing experience required.
- Prolonged periods at a desk and working on a computer.
- The ability to work with and around industrial hazards.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to access all areas of the facility to determine purchasing needs.
- May require travel to other locations.
