POSITION GOAL:
The Children’s Ministry Director would support the vision of First Church Siloam Springs as it strives for Christ-centered ministry, help lead in the discipleship of its members towards scriptural holiness and to help its families in making a difference in the lives of their neighbors, near and far.
POSITION DUTIES:
- Assist the Pastor and staff in the shepherding and care of families with children at First Church.
- Plan, prepare, and lead the midweek children’s ministry:
Timothy Team. - Oversee the scheduling and staffing of Sunday morning Early Christian Awareness (ECA), Nursery, & Kids Church and its volunteer teams.
- Plan, prepare, and lead a program designed to engage children in their faith during the summer (i.e. Timothy Team Tuesdays, VBS).
QUALIFICATIONS:
- An undeniable belief and relationship with Jesus Christ.
- A belief, knowledge, and willingness to teach Orthodox Wesleyan Theology and doctrine of the Global Methodist Church.
- An undergraduate degree in education, theology, communication, or similar would be preferred, but not required for the position.
- A demonstrative skill in teaching the Bible, theology, and doctrine to children.
- A strong gifting in personal communication and ministry organization.
- A willingness to serve families with children who demonstrate developmental and/or behavioral differences.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
High energy, active position which requires bending, stooping, and the ability to lift at least 40 pounds. Must be able to drive.
COMPETENCY REQUIRED (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
Knowledge:
Classic Christian Doctrine as articulated in the creeds of the Church (i.e. Apostles’ Creed, Nicene Creed, etc.);
Orthodox Wesleyan Theology, and best practices in children ministry;
Procedures for confidentiality, both written and oral;
Safe Gatherings policies and practices.
Skills:
Microsoft Office, desktop publishing, and other programs used at First Church or a willingness and aptitude to learn programs; social media content creation and delivery preferred.
Abilities:
Able to communicate with children and parents. Able to build teams, recruit volunteers, and develop leaders.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS &
HOURS:
The position would require 15-20 hours weekly of total work, with required time on campus on Wednesdays during the school year from 5 pm-8 pm and Sundays from 9 am-12 pm. When available participation in weekly staff meetings on Mondays from 10 am-12 pm is appreciated.
