SUMMARY
This position assists the City Engineer in reviewing and oversight of the design and construction of internal and external projects for water, sewer, street, and drainage projects. Responsible for maintaining maps, graphics, and record drawings for streets, water lines, sewer lines, and other City infrastructure. Under the guidance of the City Engineer, this position is responsible for the MS4 stormwater and for review of all project submissions to verify city code and drainage criteria compliance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESUnder supervision and guidance by the City Engineer, the Engineering Technician may provide assistance in the office and/or field to review and interpret complex drainage reports and civil engineering drawings for compliance and best engineering practices.

BASIC KNOWLEDGEAssociate’s degree in Engineering Technology from a two‑year college or university and two years of related experience or a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with one year of related experience.
Proof of taking a hydrology course required for all candidates through submission of official transcript.
LANGUAGE SKILLSBilingual (English & Spanish) preferred.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or Board of Directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITYAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS (if required)- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Professional Civil Engineer Registration and License in the State of Arkansas or the ability to obtain within (6) months preferred.
