I. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, ACTIVITIES, & RESPONSIBILITIESA. Obtain patient medical histories, and monitor patient vital signs and condition; accurately documents all patient information.
B. Administer medications and injections; document medications accurately within patient charts.
C. Perform phlebotomy and appropriate laboratory testing as directed by physician. Adhere to all lab protocols.
D. Complete face sheets and take pertinent vital signs for each patient.
E. Establish favorable working relationships with all staff members associated with center operations.
F. Uphold and consistently represent the values and mission of the organization at all times while treating all patients, staff, and visitors with dignity and respect. Represent the organization in highly professional manner at all times.
G. Ensure compliance and attention to all corporate policies and procedures.
H. Participate in professional development activities and maintain all required professional licensure and certifications.
I. Provide service in a manner that is appropriate for the patient's age; demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to meet the patient's physical, psychosocial, educational and safety needs.
J. Responsible for sterilization of instruments and general cleaning of exam rooms.
K. Document visits accurately, and in a timely manner, to include patient education/counseling; maintain patient records/charts in an organized and thorough manner.
L. Maintain appearance and order of exam rooms. Responsible for checking and restocking exam rooms/providers with medical supplies needed for the work day.
M. Provide various reports as needed.
N. Present a professional image at all times to clients and vendors and maintain a positive reputation of the company.
O. Follow all relevant company policies and procedures.
P. Assists other Departments and other administrative personnel as necessary.
Q. Performs other duties as assigned.
II. COMPETENCIESA. Knowledge Knowledge of appropriate nursing care delivery systems to meet the Healthcare Center delivery model; knowledge of nursing theory, practice and procedures for all ages.
Possess knowledge of health promotion, prevention, treatment and rehabilitation.
Possess adequate knowledge of medical terminology to ensure optimal comprehension between physician and patient.
Knowledge of basic office procedures to include scheduling, registration, medical records filing, insurance coverage, referrals and authorizations preferred.
Knowledge of the Center's services, departments, rules, and regulations.
B. Skills Requires excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with persons of different cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
Must possess excellent customer service skills and present positive image of the Center.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Must be able to work effectively in a variety of settings.
Demonstrates ability to perform certain medical tasks as assigned.
Demonstrates clinical and analytical skills and abilities.
C. Abilities Ability to read and comprehend medical instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to document, with clarity, all information relevant to a patient's needs.
Ability to work cooperatively with community agency personnel to coordinate services for patients.
Ability to exercise initiative, judgment, and decision-making in meeting patient and organizational needs.
Demonstrates ability to consider cultural factors during interpretation to ensure accurate understanding.
Able to use office equipment and computer programs, including phone systems, typing, fax, and copy machine.
Able to organize job duties in a manner which enables timely completion of quality work.
Ability to follow orders pertaining to work duties.
III. EXPERIENCEA. Qualifications Requires a minimum of 1 year experience in a Family Practice, Pediatric or related clinical setting.
Significant knowledge of medical practices and procedures in a primary care environment.
Demonstrated success and experience with direct patient services and the proper knowledge and use of medical devices and equipment.
Must be able to communicate effectively (verbal, written, and reading) at a high-competency level.
B. Education Graduate from an accredited School of Vocational Nursing program.
C. Licensure and/or Certifications Current license as a Licensed Vocational Nurse in the State of Texas.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
IV certification within 1 year of hire.
IV. PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES and/or CONDITION SA. Physical Demands Must be able to stand/walk for long periods of time.
Must be able to move/lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to grip/grasp consistently, with extremes regarding fine motor skills.
Requires frequent repetitive movements which includes typing, twisting, bending, pushing and/or pulling.
