Responsible for the ARC 3.5m Telescope, instruments, and participates as a member of the 3.5m Engineering team. Daily engineering support of telescope and instrument operations, maintenance and repairs. Lead and perform summer engineering activities and preventative maintenance of equipment, optics and instrumentation. Identify engineering upgrades and improvements including CAD design, modeling and coordinating with manufacturing or machinists. Supervise engineering staff to maintain and improve facilities.

Document and archive all mechanical, optical and electronic models, drawings, assemblies as well as creating procedures, reviewing design reviews and leading schedules, participating in meetings and regular reporting to the Director of Operations.

• Environment: Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.

• Lifting Requirements: Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
• Risk: Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
