Utility Maintenance Worker - Openings in Water and Wastewater!
Starting pay updated to $18.75 per hour.
Great opportunity to start your career! The City of Espanola will provide training to help you move forward in your career including training to receive your water or wastewater certifications!
STANDING POSITION, APPLICATIONS ACCEPTED AT ANY TIME. ALSO HIRING OPERATORS WITH NMED CERTIFICATION AT HIGHER PAY, PER PAY PLAN
What you’ll do:- Install and maintain water or wastewater lines
- Learn to operate equipment including a backhoe
- Perform maintenance on the City’s water or wastewater system
- Train on-the-job for your NM Water Operator Certifications
- Obtain a Class B commercial driver’s license and traffic control flagger certification with our help
- Within your first 16 months, obtain NMED Operator 1 certification and receive a pay increase
- Motivated individuals who want to serve the Española Valley as part of a great team while learning a skilled trade on-the-job!
- High School graduation or GED
- NM driver’s license with a clean driving record
- 1 year of experience in a maintenance or laborer job
- (you can include your part-time work during high school, or summer work on a family farm, etc., to meet the experience requirement!)

- Eligible to join the union after 6 months

- High School Diploma or GED equivalent, plus one year experience in related field or laborer position
- Must possess and maintain a valid NM Drivers License and be insurable by City's vehicle insurance provider
- Must be willing to obtain a New Mexico Water or Wastewater Level I certification within 16 months and CDL class B within one (1) year from hire.
