We are partnering with a leading power generation and energy infrastructure company to identify a Staff Accountant to join their Accounting team in Silver Spring, MD
.
Our client operates within a complex, consolidated holding company structure supporting utility-scale power plant projects. This role offers exposure to both US GAAP and IFRS reporting, as well as public-company level financial controls and SOX compliance. It’s an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional looking to grow within a dynamic and technically sophisticated energy platform.
The Staff Accountant will oversee day-to-day accounting operations for multiple corporate holding and development entities. This position reports directly to the Director of Accounting and works closely with senior leadership across the organization.
Key Responsibilities- Perform general ledger accounting and month-end close processes
- Prepare journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and roll-forward schedules
- Ensure compliance with monthly close timelines
- Support financial reporting and tax return preparation
- Utilize and maintain accounting data within Excel, Microsoft Dynamics GP, SAP S/4
HANA Public Cloud, and automated workflow tools
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- Minimum 2+ years of general ledger accounting and month-end close experience
- Strong balance sheet reconciliation background
- Experience with integrated ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics GP and/or SAP S/4
HANA a plus) - Strong proficiency in Excel and MS Office
- CPA preferred but not required
- Experience in public accounting or corporate accounting (real estate or energy preferred)
- Detail-oriented, highly organized, and comfortable in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Must pass a pre-employment criminal background and financial credit check.
