We are a well-established concierge bookkeeping firm based in Silver Spring, MD, with over 25 years of expertise. Our practice offers high-level bookkeeping services, Quick Books® training, financial consulting, analysis, and project management. We are seeking an energetic, organized, and confident bookkeeping professional to perform a broad range of bookkeeping functions for our diverse and growing client base.

What We’re Looking For:

We are currently looking for an individual who has the experience to service both our Non-Profit and For-Profit clients. Experience in class allocations, accrual accounting, and complex general ledger accounting is required.

What You’ll Do:

Core Accounting Duties
  • Banking: Record bank deposits, verify and balance receipts from various sources.
  • Payroll: Prepare and process payroll with an outside service (e.g., ADP, Paychex, Gusto), and process tax forms in a timely manner.
  • Accounts Payable: Make purchases, pay bills using third-party apps like Bill® and Melio®, track overdue bills and accounts, and ensure accuracy of all entered bills.
  • Accounts Receivable: Post payments received against open invoices and track overdue invoices.
  • Timekeeping: Track billable and non-billable time, and review invoices to clients for accuracy.
  • Source Documentation: Code and file documents according to company procedures.
  • Reconciliations: Perform monthly/daily reconciliations of bank and credit card accounts, payroll clearing accounts, and necessary general ledger accounts.
  • Sales Tax: Process and pay sales tax for various states in a timely manner.
  • Financial Statements and Reports: Prepare daily, weekly, or monthly financial statements for clients and CPAs.
  • Month-End Procedures: Accurately prepare required monthly journal entries and perform month-end closing procedures. Review and verify accounts, records of expenditures, and revenues for each client.
Internal Procedures:
  • Quarter-End Review: Prepare internal document database review checklists for submission to supervisor.
  • Professional Accounting Work: Perform accounting work in accordance with internal accounting systems and generally accepted accounting procedures.[SP2]
  • Financial Forecasts and Budgets: Prepare financial forecasts and budgets using internal software, create ongoing scenarios and KPIs for financial decision-making.
  • Financial Analysis: Analyze a company’s financials, communicate assessments clearly to clients, and answer client questions.
  • Recommendations: Make recommendations to improve clients’ financial health and guide them toward solutions.
  • Database Selection: Assist with database selection, third-party applications, and integrations.
  • Training: Train clients in Quick Books Online®, company-supported third-party applications, and accounting best practices.
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
  • Experience: 8 yearsin responsible accounting or full charge bookkeeping (including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, journal entries, trial balance, and general ledger reconciliation).
  • Quick Books Online®: Minimum of 8 years of experience with Quick Books Online®, Quick Books Pro Advisor® certification required.
  • Financial Reporting: Ability to prepare financial reports, statements, documents, and entries in accordance with GAAP.
  • Year-End Financials: Ability to prepare year-end financials while working with clients' CPAs.
