About The Position
The salary range above represents this position’s earning potential. The anticipated hiring range for this position based off 20 hours per week will be $28,851.50 ($27.74/hour) to $34,882.50 ($33.54/hour) based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities- Provide courteous customer service at the circulation desk and throughout the library.
- Assist with shelving and processing of library materials.
- Provide basic computer assistance to patrons.
- Use technology and personal computers, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Publisher) and social media platforms.
- Practice problem‑solving using empathy and common sense in solving problems and decision‑making.
- Communicate effectively and listen patiently to understand customer service needs.
- Collaborate with team members and assist in the overall operation of the library.
- Maintain a positive, energetic, enthusiastic, and self‑motivated attitude.
- Energetic, enthusiastic, hard‑working, and a self‑motivated team player.
- Genuine person who enjoys interacting with people on the telephone and in person.

- Library hours of operation are 7 days a week including evenings, days, and weekends. Employees are expected to be available for work during these times. Individual schedules, including evenings and weekends, will vary based on branch operational needs.
Education: Graduation from high school or High School Certificate of completion recognized by the State of Maryland.
Experience: One year of library support work.
Substitution: N/A
Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
Preferred Criteria- Experience providing direct customer service in a busy setting.
- Experience using an integrated library system.
- Experience using a computer in a work environment.
- Experience learning quickly and adapting to changes and completing formal and informal training necessary to support change.
- Experience working as part of a workplace team and working cooperatively with others while maintaining effective working relationships with co‑workers, supervisors, and the public.
Ability to perform light physical effort, such as keyboarding, standing, or staying in place and lifting, carrying and/or moving book tubs, carts and library materials weighing 20 pounds, regularly, and up to 50 pounds, as required.
