Regional Director of Construction | Community Solar | EPC | Maryland
Our client is an incredibly well financed EPC in the Community Solar and space. They are seeking a Director of Construction who will be working closely with project managers and field construction managers to work through project buyout during the subcontracting phase, as well as negotiating subcontracts and planning/executing schedules & budgets across portfolios of projects.
This role is highly impactful and visible as they expand into a new region.
Responsibilities- Oversee the planning, scheduling, and execution of all solar construction projects across utility-scale, C&I, or DG portfolios.
- Provide strategic direction and leadership to project teams to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality and safety standards.
- Manage all phases of construction including civil, electrical, structural, and mechanical scopes.
- Coordinate field operations, subcontractor performance, and material deliveries to ensure workflow efficiency.
- Monitor construction progress through regular site visits and reporting tools.
- Lead and mentor a team of project managers, site superintendents, and construction personnel.
- Implement performance reviews, training programs, and workforce development strategies.
- Collaborate with HR to recruit and retain top construction talent.
- Select, negotiate, and manage subcontractor agreements and performance.
- Ensure vendors meet project specifications, timelines, and budget requirements.
- Build long-term relationships with high-performing partners and trade contractors.
- Develop and manage construction budgets and forecasts.
- Work with estimating, procurement, and finance teams to ensure cost-effective delivery.
- Mitigate risks related to change orders, cost overruns, or schedule delays.
- Develop detailed construction schedules and allocate labor, equipment, and materials accordingly.
- Resolve bottlenecks, resource conflicts, and delays to maintain project timelines.
- Enforce safety policies and OSHA standards across all construction sites.
- Lead implementation of QA/QC processes and ensure workmanship meets or exceeds industry standards.
- Investigate and resolve incidents or quality deficiencies quickly.
