Job Title: Project Manager (MEP / Mission Critical)
Location: Silver Spring, MD
Duration: Year-long contract going through May/June 2027
Pay Rate: $58.00 - $72.00/hr
OverviewWe are seeking a hands‑on Project Manager to support a large‑scale, mission‑critical infrastructure upgrade for a major telecom client. This individual will play a key role onsite at a high‑profile switching facility, overseeing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) work streams while ensuring safe and timely project execution.
This is a highly visible role requiring strong field presence, leadership, and the ability to operate independently in a fast‑paced construction environment.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee day‑to‑day field operations across MEP trades (mechanical, electrical, plumbing)
- Manage and coordinate subcontractors and tradespeople (up to a dozen workers onsite at a time)
- Lead field execution for infrastructure upgrades within a mission‑critical telecom/data center environment
- Interpret and work from construction drawings, specifications, and project schedules
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and ensure alignment with construction timelines
- Serve as the onsite point of contact between internal teams, subcontractors, and client stakeholders
- Utilize Procore (or similar construction management systems) for documentation, tracking, and reporting
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, including OSHA regulations and site‑specific requirements
- Support commissioning readiness and overall project delivery execution
- Large‑scale telecom switching facility (hundreds of thousands of square feet)
- Primarily industrial/mechanical space with minimal office environment
- Ongoing infrastructure upgrades following a prior utility‑related incident (currently operating on generators)
- Long‑term capital improvement program with potential for additional phases
- 5–10 years of experience in construction, with strong field‑based project management or APM experience
- Background supporting data centers, telecom, or mission‑critical facilities
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, schedules, and plans
- Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating multiple trades onsite
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing and field execution logic
- Proficiency with Procore or similar project management platforms (eBuilder, Contract Manager, etc.)
- OSHA 30 certification (required)
- Experience working with large electrical contractors (e.g., JE Richards, Power Solutions)
- Prior experience in live/operating facilities or critical infrastructure environments
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to operate independently in the field
$58.00/hr to $72.00/hr.
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
