Job Summary

The .2 FTE Focus Music Teacher will provide targeted music instruction and enrichment to students in alignment with the school’s Focus program goals and the MCPS music curriculum. The teacher will collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to support student engagement, creativity, and achievement through differentiated instruction and culturally responsive teaching practices.

• Plan and deliver high-quality music instruction in alignment with the MCPS music curriculum.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to support student engagement, creativity, and achievement through differentiated instruction and culturally responsive teaching practices.
• Maintain a positive learning environment and monitor and evaluate student outcomes.
• Ensure appropriate use and care of music equipment, materials and facilities.
• Supervise students in a variety of school-related settings.
• Contribute to school-based performances and activities as appropriate.
• Attend school meetings, programs and activities outside the instructional day as mandated by the MCEA agreement.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of MCPS curriculum, techniques for integrating curriculum, MCPS policies, and effective instructional practices.
• Understanding of the teaching/learning process.
• Ability to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education.
• Ability to infuse technology into curriculum.
• Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office, school-based staff, students, parents and community.
• Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.

Education and Training Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in applicable field of education from an accredited college or university.
• Meets Maryland state certification requirements in appropriate field of education.

The wage range for this position is a salary between 20% of $64,591 and $131,472 based on education and experience.
