We are seeking a dynamic and innovative educator to serve as our next Dean of Students, in a 10-month, full-time exempt position. The Dean of Students works to promote the general well-being, social and academic progress of the students. The Dean of Students is highly visible and accessible to students and faculty and helps set the tone and culture for the school.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Student Support & Advocacy
  • Serve as a visible, accessible point of contact for student and parent concerns
  • Through a restorative practice lens, oversee student adherence to school expectations and guide students, teachers, staff, and families through the restorative process, particularly for middle and high school students
  • Participate as a member of the Discipline Committee
  • Maintain accurate disciplinary records in line with policy and best practice
  • Serve as a resource to faculty on student behavioral and developmental issues
  • Oversee the advisory program
Culture, Community, & Student Life
  • Organize experiential learning opportunities including field trips/experiences, speakers and service‑learning opportunities.
  • Identify opportunities and coordinate with outside providers to offer enrichment opportunities during the school year.
  • Support special events and student activities, such as WILDCATS Week and internships
  • Promote a mission‑centered student culture throughout the school
  • Foster school spirit and a strong sense of community
Administrative & Team Leadership
  • Lead weekly division meetings and follow up on action items
  • Participate in meetings and committees.

    E.g., Guidance Team meetings, cross‑campus administrative meetings, family meetings and accreditation committee meetings
  • Coordinate completion of all external student paperwork adhering to strict confidentiality standards
  • Communicate with professionals and families as needed, including organizing classroom observations
  • Oversee the registration and enrollment process for all after school, summer, and enrichment programs.
  • Coordinate daily substitute needs and substitute teach as needed
  • Organize annual transition activities for students in 4th, 5th, and 8th grades.
  • Provide logistical oversight for daily school functions, including but not limited to on‑campus student parking, proctoring for exams, proofing of Rising Up and Graduation comments, advisory meeting locations, student seating assignments
Other Duties
  • Coordinate with and support other Deans and administrators as needed, including at the Northern Virginia Campus
  • Be a member of the emergency planning committee and On Site Emergency Team, and be a medication technician
  • May be an advisor
  • Represent Siena at external and internal events
  • Summer: attend meetings through the end of June to wrap up the year/plan for next school year; check and respond to emails in the summer as needed
  • Other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.
Qualification Requirements
  • Demonstrated career interest in education
  • Bachelor's degree with a strong academic track record. Advanced degree and 2-5 years of classroom experience or administrative experience preferred
  • Professional development/experience with students with language based learning differences, ADHD, anxiety and executive functioning difficulties
  • Strong writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Proven leadership experience in student life and student support services with a belief in
  • promoting joyful student engagement and a commitment to the education of dyslexic students
  • Demonstrate commitment to valuing belonging and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and students to create a positive and supportive school environment.
  • Creativity, flexibility, and a student‑centered mindset.
  • Participate actively in the life of the school by attending events, exploring classrooms, and contributing to the culture of the school.
