Overview
Montgomery College accepts applications for Adjunct/Part-time Faculty on a continuous basis. Applications may be reviewed periodically based on student enrollment needs. The listing of a course in the schedule of classes as “TBA” does not constitute an assignment. The hiring decision for part-time faculty involves an academic judgment and shall be determined at Management’s sole discretion. This posting is for a part-time faculty member teaching a Graphic Design/Digital Art course for the Fall 2026 semester at the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Teach courses in Graphic Design/Digital Art.
- Maintain classroom and follow safety guidelines.
- Monitor and utilize Blackboard.
- Keep track of student attendance and grades.
- Communicate with Department Chair and staff regarding instructional needs.
- Master’s degree in Graphic Design/Digital Art or related fields.
- Demonstrated commitment to promoting belonging, inclusion, and multicultural competence, and willingness to contribute to the College’s strategic plan of inclusion.
- Access to a personal computer with virus protection that can connect to the internet outside of the work location. If you do not have access, notify the department chair at the time of interview. The College may provide temporary access to resources, subject to available funds.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without a sponsor.
- Previous teaching experience (instructor of record) at the postsecondary level.
- Experience with a broad range of graphic design and digital art practices.
- Familiar and experienced with interdisciplinary and contemporary practices such as UX, VR; knowledge of non-Western practices.
- A CV that includes dates of employment and a list of previous courses taught (and how many times each section was taught); indicate instructor of record or teaching assistant.
- A 1-2 page cover letter addressing the instruction of an introduction to graphic design.
- Unofficial copies of transcripts from the highest degree earned.
- Link to a portfolio demonstrating abilities in graphic design/digital art instruction (at least 5 works).
- For degrees earned outside the U.S., an education equivalency evaluation conducted by a nationally recognized evaluation service.
- Employees must live in Maryland or a state with payroll reciprocity (DC, VA, PA, WV, DE, MA).
