Job Description
Fiscal Year 2027:
Team Leader, Physical Education, Eastern Middle School, 1.0 FTE (26003RS).
Salary range: $64,591 to $131,472 based on education and experience. Benefits information available at This position includes required summer days, compensated at the regular rate.
Attendance at school meetings, programs, and activities outside the instructional day is required as mandated by the MCEA agreement.
Summary DescriptionThe Middle School team leader coordinates and manages the operations of a grade level team. They serve as an effective facilitator, possess strong interpersonal skills, and collaborate with all stakeholders for the benefit of students. The role focuses on coordinating the instructional program and fostering collaboration among teachers across grade level teams. They analyze achievement data to ensure improvement targets are met and promote student and parent engagement.
The leader participates on the Leadership Team to ensure school initiatives are implemented, with additional time and compensation for these responsibilities.
- Knowledge of grade level curriculum, assessment, and instruction.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching.
- Understanding of the middle school child.
- Ability to work well with students, teachers, and administrators.
- Strong skills in data collection and analysis of formative and summative data.
- Strong technology skills.
- Knowledge of and understanding of the master schedule.
- Knowledge of Baldrige tools and practices.
- Outstanding facilitation, organizational, and management skills.
- Excellent oral, written communication, facilitation, and collaboration skills.
- Knowledge and application of the six performance standards for the Montgomery County Public Schools Teacher Professional Growth System.
- Master’s degree or equivalent from an accredited institution, or within one year of completing the requirement.
- Minimum three years of outstanding teaching experience, with one year of MCPS teaching experience preferred.
- Experience teaching in middle school.
- Demonstrated excellent skills in working effectively with people.
- Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience may be considered.
Selected by the principal and a team that includes teachers from the grade level team. Team leaders will need to achieve lead teacher status when the career lattice is implemented.

Certificate and LicenseMust meet the appropriate Maryland State Department of Education certification requirements for a middle school assignment.
