FY27:
Para educator Level I Combo, Special Education (3 hours) & Lunch Hour Aide (1 hour), Oak View Elementary School, 4 hrs per week for 10 months. Final date to receive applications: 7/6/26. The position includes 3 hours of para educator special education and 1 hour of lunch hour aide.

Summary DescriptionAt the direction of the principal, this para educator performs a variety of tasks that promote student learning and well‑being to support students with Individualized Education Programs (IEP). The work focuses on facilitating student mastery of grade‑level curriculum or Alternate Academic Achievement Standards. Students are typically in general education classes and may be pulled out for individualized or small group instruction. The position also provides instructional and classroom‑management supports, and related clerical tasks, to support teachers and other staff in all classroom settings.
All new para educators are hired at grade 13 and have the opportunity to promote to grade 14 after successfully completing the six‑month probationary period and the required training hours. Paraeducators in this class support the following special education services:
Twice‑Exceptional, Learning & Academic Disabilities / Resource Services (HSM, HBS, LAD/RES).
Frequent bending, walking, and lifting of objects or equipment up to 50 pounds may be required.
Special RequirementsOutside duty and flexible scheduling may be required. Must accommodate changes in location and/or program and continue planned instructional activities during a teacher’s temporary absence from the classroom.
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of child development, instructional strategies, and policies of Montgomery County Public Schools. Ability to assist with implementation of the instructional program, monitor student behavior, exhibit patience, work effectively with children, young adults, and staff, follow written and verbal instructions, and perform required tasks. Effective verbal and written communication in English. Ability to interact with and support students with special needs.
Knowledge of standard computer hardware and software, including Google Workspace, MS Office, and web‑based instructional tools. Ability to learn and meet the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS).
