Job Description

Wage range: $24.38 - $36.67 per hour based on years of service. Benefits information:  This school is a Title I school. Eligible candidates must have already uploaded the following to their profile: 1. Unofficial university transcript with 48+ credits
, 2. Official transcript evaluated by an agency approved by the Maryland State Department of Education, if degree from outside the U.S., 3. Unofficial Para Pro assessment result with passing score
. Official documents will be requested at hire and sent to staffing.

Summary

At the direction of the principal, this para educator promotes student learning and well-being to support diploma-bound students. The role focuses on facilitating mastery of grade-level or above curriculum, supporting students in general education classes, and providing individualized or small-group reinforcement. Instructional and classroom management supports, plus clerical assistance to teachers and staff, are also performed.

Qualifications
  • Knowledge of child development and instructional strategies applicable to the assignment.
  • Ability to implement the instructional program and monitor student behavior.
  • Patient behavior and effective work with children, young adults, and staff.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions and perform required tasks.
  • Effective verbal and written communication.
  • Read/write/speak English.
  • Support students with special needs.
  • Knowledge of standard computer hardware and software such as Google Workspace, MS Office, and web-based instructional tools.
  • Quickly learn and meet the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS).
Education & Experience

Paraeducators for a Title I position must meet ESSA qualifications. A high-school diploma is required, and one of the following:

  • Associate's degree or higher college degree.
  • At least 48 credits of study at an accredited institution of higher education.
  • A passing grade on the Para Pro examination.
Physical &

Special Requirements

Physical demands: frequent bending, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds may be required.

Special requirements: outside duty may be required. Must accommodate flexible scheduling and location/program changes as needed. Continue planned instructional activities during teacher's temporary absence.
