Overview

Position:
Para educator supporting students with IEPs. Wage range: $23.61 per hour to $41.87 per hour for a not-to-exceed or salary-based position. Benefits information is not included here; please refer to human resources materials for details.

• Support students with IEP goals in academic, behavioral, social, emotional, and physical areas.
• Assist with instructional activities and classroom management across general education and specialized settings.
• Contribute to student mastery of grade-level content or Alternate Academic Achievement Standards.
• Provide support during teacher’s temporary absence and participate in small-group or individualized reinforcement as needed.
• Perform related clerical tasks to assist teachers and other professional staff.
• Follow district policies and standards for safety and student behavior; support positive student engagement.

• Education, Training, and
  
  Experience:
  
  Various pathways are acceptable, including:
  • Associate’s degree required;
    Bachelor’s degree preferred; coursework in education-related areas; prior experience with students in structured educational settings.
  • Or at least 48 college credits with relevant experience in structured settings.
  • Or two years of experience in structured settings with completion of the Para Pro Assessment (qualifying score required).
  • Any combination of education, training, and experience that provides necessary knowledge, abilities, and skills.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English; effective verbal and written communication with students and staff.
• Knowledge of child development, instructional strategies, and supporting services or SSPGS (as applicable).
• Proficiency with standard computer software (e.g., Google Workspace, MS Office) and web-based instructional tools.
