Teacher, ELD – Weller Road Elementary School (FY27, 1.0 FTE, 26004BA)

The wage range is a salary between $66,690 and $135,745 based on education and experience. Benefits information is available at the provided link.

Under the direction of the school principal, plans for and provides English language development (ELD) instruction for students identified as eligible for ELD services through the state‑mandated English proficiency test. Collaborates with administrators, counselors, teachers, and other staff regarding individual EML students and their needs; serves as a resource for information regarding EML, cultural and linguistic differences, ELD instruction, and the ELD instructional program;

explains the program to parents and supports students, parents, staff, and the community as needed.

• Considerable knowledge of second language teaching/learning methods and techniques.
• Ability to work effectively with administrators, counselors, and other staff in organizing and implementing the ELD instructional program.
• Fluency in another language, in addition to English, preferred.
• Ability to understand and support students in the process of adjustment to the academic and cultural environment in MCPS.
• Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Holds Maryland teacher certification in ESOL/ELD.
