Overview
Under direction of the school principal, plans and provides appropriate learning experiences for students, fostering an environment conducive to intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development. Supervises students in a variety of school‑related settings, monitors and evaluates outcomes, and maintains required records and procedures. Communicates and interacts with students, parents, staff, and community members.
Responsibilities- Develop, select, and modify instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students.
- Deliver a hands‑on, project‑based curriculum focused on digital illustration, commercial art, layout design, and typography.
- Manage a computer lab studio and align lessons with state CTE standards.
- Prepare students for Adobe Certified Professional certifications.
- Maintain the program’s official articulation and proficiency credit pathway with Montgomery College.
- Monitor appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Attend school meetings, programs, and activities outside instructional hours as required by the MCEA contract.
- Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field of education from an accredited institution.
- At least five years of full‑time industry experience in the discipline to be taught within the last ten years, or a bachelor’s degree in education with demonstrated industry experience.
- Preferred industry licensure and/or certification (meeting Maryland state certification requirements in the appropriate field of education).
- Knowledge of MCPS curriculum, state policies, and effective instructional practices.
- Ability to integrate technology, provide multicultural instruction, and work collaboratively with administrators, colleagues, staff, parents, and the community.
