The State Highway Administration’s (SHA) District 7 is currently recruiting for a Project Reviewer Access Management (Transportation Engineer II) in Frederick County. This position is open to anyone who meets the minimum and selective qualifications listed below. This is a position specific recruitment. This position represents the State Highway Administration District 7 Office as a Project Reviewer for access management development and permitting reviews, through interface and coordination with federal, state, county, and municipal agencies, as well as citizens, developers, and consulting engineers. This position will assist the regional engineer, ADE‑Traffic, and district engineer in the review of development project documents, prepare comments related to the projects, and under minimal supervision negotiate the application of requirements for access and highway‑related improvements, providing technical direction and consultant engineer coordination of SHA requirements as required.

The primary purpose of this position is to enforce the regulations stipulated in the Annotated Code of Maryland. The Project Reviewer has the authority to present recommendations for others to take immediate corrective action as necessary. Also, the Project Reviewer will coordinate, as necessary, with appropriate parties to withhold the issuance of a SHA approval of a development submission and/or the access permit in the review of subdivision and site development plans, grading plans, and building permits through the County Review and SHA development review processes for all assigned projects.

Possession of a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.

Two (2) years experience in professional engineering.

One (1) year of the required experience must have included traffic engineering, highway design, land development, access management, and/or construction project engineer experience.

Candidate must possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the state of Maryland.
