Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking to add a Geologist II to join our Remediation team in our Annapolis Junction, MD office. This position will report for 40 hours per week. You will work with a diverse team of technical leaders across a broad range of practice areas delivering remediation consulting services to our key clients. The Annapolis Junction engineering group focuses on soil, groundwater, surface water, and sediment investigation and remediation, and environmental compliance support.

Projects may include assisting with design and desk studies, risk assessments, environmental compliance assessments and remediation solutions including data procurement and analysis, drawing and specification development, factual and interpretative report writing. Candidate must be able to work as part of a project team comprised of AECOM staff and subcontractors. Flexibility to work on a multitude of diverse projects, a positive attitude, and commitment to workplace health and safety are imperative.

Under the direction of Project Managers and senior technical staff, the job responsibilities of this position will include but are not limited to:

  • Manage tasks as part of larger projects.
  • Write technical planning documents and reports with the support of senior environmental professionals.
  • Assist project manager with proposal writing and cost estimating.
  • Work with procurement staff to hire subcontractors and manage implementation of their services.
  • Assist with preparing permits and access agreements with public agencies and other stakeholders.
  • Interact with federal and private clients. Develop client relationships through technical work. Attend site visits and planning meetings.
  • Assist with planning and implementation of remedial actions.
  • Assist in planning and leading field investigation programs involving drilling, borehole logging, well installation, groundwater monitoring, and subsequent remedial activities.
  • Perform standard scientific work requiring application of techniques and procedures.
  • Detect problems when using standardized procedures because of the condition of sample, difficulties with the equipment, etc.
  • Propose appropriate analytical methods and techniques. Assists in providing advice and consulting services within scope of scientific knowledge.
  • Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, compare findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
  • The position involves local travel to project sites to collect samples, oversee remediation construction contractors, gather information and present results of study and design work
  • Support PFAS assessments including site investigation, remedial options assessments, and PFAS waste management.
