Guideship is a nonprofit workforce development organization dedicated to creating career pathways for underserved communities through mentorship, internships, apprenticeships, workforce readiness training, and cybersecurity education.
Over the past three years, our affiliated workforce development initiatives have invested more than $700,000 to develop and mature a nationally recognized Cybersecurity Apprenticeship Program. The program has become one of Maryland's leading cybersecurity apprenticeship models, serving individuals from underserved communities and helping graduates launch careers in technology and cybersecurity.
We are now seeking experienced volunteer Board Members who can help Guideship scale its impact through fundraising, strategic partnerships, donor engagement, and nonprofit growth.
Description
The Treasurer & Finance Chair provides oversight of the financial affairs of Guideship and helps ensure responsible stewardship of charitable resources. The Chair works with the Board to maintain financial transparency, compliance, sustainability, and long-term planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Review budgets, financial statements, and forecasts.
- Monitor organizational financial health.
- Assist with annual IRS and state filings.
- Oversee accounting and financial controls.
- Advise on investment and endowment management.
- Review financial risks and opportunities.
- Participate in fundraising and donor stewardship discussions.
- CPA, CFO, Controller, Finance Executive, Banker, Financial Advisor, or similar background.
- Experience with nonprofit finances preferred.
- Understanding of budgeting, financial controls, and reporting.
- Commitment to responsible stewardship.
4–8 hours per month.
