Financial Manager, CFO, Financial Reporting, Financial Analyst
Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Finance Director for a mission-driven nonprofit organization. This is a hybrid position based in Silver Spring, Maryland, with three days onsite each week.
POSITION OVERVIEWThe Finance Director serves as the primary financial leader for a nonprofit organization and its affiliated entity, overseeing financial management, reporting, budgeting, compliance, and fiscal strategy. This role partners closely with executive leadership and an external finance team to ensure financial integrity, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence. The position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while supporting an organization dedicated to empowering individuals to live fulfilling and independent lives.

- Lead financial operations, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial reporting for multiple nonprofit entities
- Prepare board-ready financial reports, dashboards, forecasts, and analyses to support strategic decision-making
- Partner with executive leadership and external finance teams to ensure accurate financial statements, reconciliations, and monthly close processes
- Maintain strong internal controls, regulatory compliance, audit readiness, and adherence to nonprofit accounting standards
- Monitor revenue streams, grants, contracts, Medicaid funding, billing performance, and financial risk indicators
- Serve as a key financial advisor across departments, supporting organizational planning, growth initiatives, and fiscal sustainability
- Experience leading financial operations, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting within a nonprofit, healthcare, human services, or related environment
- Knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles, grant management, restricted funding, and financial compliance requirements
- Experience working with multi-entity financial structures, subsidiary organizations, or complex funding models preferred
- Advanced proficiency with accounting systems, financial reporting tools, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong communication, analytical, and relationship-building skills with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights
