As a Relationship Manager II within PNC's Community Development Banking organization, you will be based in Washington, D.C. PNC’s Community Development Banking is dedicated to improving low-to‑moderate income neighborhoods and the quality of life for low- and moderate-income people. We focus on meeting community needs through community development loans, investments, financial education, and other technical expertise.
Job DescriptionYour role will involve extensive outreach in lower income communities to originate community development loans and investments while inspiring service partners to get involved. You will work with affordable housing developers, community development financial institutions (CDFIs), nonprofit organizations and social impact investment entities to provide nontraditional capital for high‑impact development projects and reinvestment into local communities.
Responsibilities- Coordinate relationship management activities with new and/or existing clients to grow sales, revenue, and market share.
- Originate, analyze, negotiate, and document credit and non-credit products and services for moderate‑risk clients.
- Manage risk/return and drive quality for new and existing clients, actively identifying and mitigating regulatory, reputational, operational, and credit risks.
- Provide insights based on clients’ needs and financial well‑being to increase engagement and loyalty.
- Build and maintain an effective network of internal and external relationships, including community or industry contacts, to acquire new clients and expand existing relationships.
- Leverage reporting and sales tools to proactively identify and convert sales opportunities.
- Analyze, evaluate, and mitigate credit risk for complex requests using advanced credit fundamentals and internal credit policies.
- Preferred experience:
familiarity with sustainable loan principles, real estate lending, tax credit financing, commercial lending, and previous relationship management experience. - Formal bank credit training preferred.
- Adaptable self-starter with a book of business and/or a network of Centers of Influence to generate loans and investments.
- Ability to travel and participate in after‑hours events such as conferences, panels, round tables, and community outreach.
- University/college degree with 5+ years of industry-relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, certifications, and experience.
- Strong business acumen, client relationship management, customer experience management, decision making, critical thinking, effective communication, prospecting, selling, and technological proficiency.
- Knowledge of the values and practices that align customer needs and satisfaction with primary business decisions.
