LOCATION OF POSITION: 100 S. Charles Street, Baltimore, Maryland 21201
Position DutiesThe main purpose of this position is to provide administrative support for the executive director and the members of the Maryland Board of Individual Tax Preparers (appointed by the Governor). It involves independent judgement and actions concerning applications for licensing and auditing continuing education for licensees from the Maryland Board of Public Accountancy, the Maryland Board of Individual Tax Preparers, and the Maryland Board of Foresters.
In addition, the position completes deposits for all three boards listed above, as well as Secondhand Precious Metal Objects Dealers and Pawnbrokers.
- Prepares and maintains files relating to the Maryland Board of Individual Tax Preparers registrants, serving as the main point of contact for the Board.
- Conducts audits of continuing education certificates for the Maryland Board of Public Accountancy, Maryland Board of Individual Tax Preparers, and Maryland Board of Foresters.
- Answers and responds as appropriate to telephone, emails, and in-person requests for information regarding all aspects of the Maryland Board of Individual Tax Preparers, Maryland Board of Foresters, and assists with the Maryland Board of Public Accountancy and Secondhand Precious Metal Objects Dealers and Pawnbrokers.
- Accurately enters information and updates on the computer AS400.
- Records and prepares minutes at meetings for the Maryland Board of Individual Tax Preparers.
- Completes deposits for Maryland Board of Public Accountancy, Maryland Board of Individual Tax Preparers, Maryland Board of Foresters, Secondhand Precious Metal Objects Dealers, and Pawnbrokers.
- Education:
Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. - Experience:
Two years of experience performing administrative staff, clerical, clerical technical, or secretarial work. - Notes:
Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year of the required experience. - Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current Maryland Department of Labor employee.
- Experience with the Maryland Board of Individual Tax Preparers.
- Experience with AS400.
- Experience working with Professional Licensing.
