The Office of Eligibility and Support Services (OESS) is currently recruiting for an enthusiastic professional to serve as a TERM Government Assistance Eligibility Specialist to help us achieve our mission. OESS serves as the point of entry for federal, State, and County health programs targeted to residents of Montgomery County who are uninsured and have limited incomes. The OESS offices confirm eligibility for Care for Kids, Prenatal Care, Dental Services, and Project Access specialty care clinic referrals.

This position determines eligibility for assistance programs administered by the Maryland Department of Health and the Family Investment Administration of the Maryland Department of Human Services. The position interviews, processes, and completes Intake applications and redeterminations in Maryland Health Connection for all public benefit programs and completes all actions necessary to continue or terminate benefits in accordance with federal and state regulations.

The caseworker completes case management functions for all assigned cases. This would include screening walk-in customers, obtaining, and verifying information necessary to determine eligibility, such as income, rent, household composition, utilities, and citizenship. The position makes referrals to other agencies when appropriate, facilitates customers’ efforts in accessing information, partners with other public and private service providers, and performs other job-related duties as assigned.

This position requires the ability to attend meetings or perform work at locations outside the office.

Candidates with multilingual skills are strongly desired.
