About the Role
Aastha Adult Medical Day Care is seeking a reliable, compassionate, and safety-focused Driver and Assistant to support daily transportation and client care needs for our participants. This is a full-time, in-person role ideal for someone with prior driving and caregiving experience who values safety, responsibility, teamwork, and respectful client support.

Key ResponsibilitiesSection 1:
Transportation & Safety Responsibilities
- Safely transport clients between their homes, the day care center, medical appointments, and approved outings.
- Assist clients with boarding and exiting the vehicle, including lifting and transfer support when required.
- Perform daily vehicle inspections, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and roadworthiness of the van.
- Ensure all clients are properly secured with seatbelts and follow all transportation safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate mileage logs, attendance records, and complete incident or accident reports as needed.
- Immediately report delays, absences, emergencies, or mechanical issues to the Van Supervisor and center staff.
- Escort clients to their home doors and ensure safe handoff to a responsible individual.
- Provide basic First Aid when necessary, following center guidelines and training.
Section 2:
Client Care, Activities & Operational Support
- Assist clients with activities of daily living, including toileting, feeding, mobility, and general comfort.
- Support clients during arrival, departure, meal times, and restroom assistance.
- Assist with meal setup and service, ensuring compliance with kitchen safety and sanitation standards.
- Prepare materials and independently conduct assigned group activities under the guidance of the Activities Coordinator.
- Encourage and motivate clients to participate in activities such as sensory stimulation, validation therapy, and anger-management programs.
- Observe client behavior and health conditions, promptly reporting any concerns or changes to the Activities Coordinator or Registered Nurse.
- Maintain a respectful, patient, and professional demeanor when interacting with clients, families, and staff.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth daily operations and compliance with state regulations and organizational policies.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors to support overall center operations.
- High School Diploma or GED (required)
- Minimum 21 years of age
- Valid Maryland Driver’s License with a clean driving record (minimum 3 years)
- Prior experience in van driving and/or caregiving preferred
- At least 1 year of experience working with older adults or individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (preferred)
- Ability to read, write, and follow written instructions
- Physically capable of lifting and transferring clients safely
- Must pass background check, driving record check, and drug screening
- Spanish language proficiency - good to have
