About the JobMed Star Health has an opportunity for a Patient Accounts Specialist II to join the Patient Accounting Non-Governmental Follow-up team with Med Star Patient Financial Services.
We are specifically looking for a candidate that has at least 3‑4 years’ experience in patient accounting, health insurance claim appeals and/or claims follow-up, denials management, and healthcare revenue cycle. Candidates must have their CRCS‑I (Certified Revenue Cycle Specialist) through AAHAM to qualify for this level II position.
Job SummaryInterprets, evaluates, and resolves complex administrative and patient account issues. Assists with identifying and escalating payer issues in a timely manner. Processes and completes the daily workload of claims assigned, reporting backlogs as identified. Identifies registration errors and flags accounts using the error‑tracking process. Ensures compliance with federal regulations. Work must meet QA standards to ensure departmental and PFS benchmarks are met.
Attends training sessions and workshops for continuous education of job requirements. Works in a team environment.
This patient accounting department works with all Commercial, HMO, MCO, Medicare Advantage and Workers’ Comp payers for 7 Med Star Health hospitals located in Maryland. The department completes follow‑up on accounts that have been billed and either no payment has been received or when only partial payment is received. The team is also responsible for submitting appeals and payment reconsiderations on denials and underpayments as necessary.
Qualifications- High school graduation or equivalent.
- CRCS‑I (Certified Revenue Cycle Specialist) certification through AAHAM required.
- 3‑4 years’ experience in patient accounting or related healthcare field, or an equivalent combination of experience and matter education.
- Detailed working knowledge and demonstrated proficiency in multiple payers application billing and/or collection processes.
- Requires basic working knowledge of UB04 and Explanation of Benefits (EOB).
- Requires some knowledge of medical terminology and CPT/ICD‑10 coding.
- Excellent communication, analytical, interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Proficient use of hospital registration and/or billing systems and personal computers as well as Microsoft Excel and Word applications. Ability to type 35 WPM.
This position has a hiring range of
USD $20.57 - $36.27 /Hr.
