Safe Kids Worldwide is a nonprofit organization working to reduce preventable injuries to children ages 0-19 and building sustainable systems to protect all families.

Safe Kids works with strategic partners and an extensive network of more than 400 coalitions in the U.S. to reduce traffic injuries, drownings, sleep‑related deaths, falls, burns, poisonings, and more. We achieve this work through a public health approach that includes research, interventions to educate and raise awareness, safety device distribution and advocacy at the federal, state, and local levels. Safe Kids also supports a worldwide alliance of like‑minded organizations in more than 20 countries.

Since 1988, Safe Kids and its partners have contributed to a more than 60 percent reduction in the rate of fatal childhood preventable injury in the U.S.

The Senior Program Associate will work closely with directors and managers in the Programs and Research department to align program activities with the Safe Kids Worldwide strategic plan and organization priorities. This includes implementation of Safe Kids injury prevention programs and development of program resources and tools in collaboration with program associates and department leads based on best practice for effective program implementation and evaluation.

He/she will coordinate Safe Kids grant programs, collaborate with team members to monitor and evaluate activities and develop program assets to support the Safe Kids network. He/she will be the primary grant program contact for at least one of the following injury areas:
Road, Home and/or Play. The Senior Program Associate will serve as a liaison between the Safe Kids network and Safe Kids Worldwide staff, coordinate and participate in meetings with program partners, collaborate with multiple departments to disseminate child safety information accurately and effectively to internal and external audiences, analyze program data and coordinate reporting. Domestic travel may be required.

Qualifications

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor's Degree Experience with program implementation and monitoring/evaluation (Required)
  • Master's Degree in Public Health, Social and Behavioral Sciences, Health Education/Promotion Knowledge of public health models and multifaceted public health programs (Preferred)

Minimum Work Experience

  • 3 years Related work experience in public health, injury prevention or program implementation fields required. (Required)

Required Skills/Knowledge

  • Experience manipulating and summarizing quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; strong analytical and report writing skills.
  • Culturally sensitive individual that takes initiative and responsibility of assigned tasks and projects.
  • Detail‑oriented individual with the ability to work effectively, independently and with a team, in fast‑paced environments and communicate at multiple management and staff levels.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with online reporting systems and creating evaluation tools preferred.
  • Demonstrates injury prevention knowledge in road safety, home safety and/or play safety a plus.
  • Bilingual skills a plus.
  • Knowledge of public health models and multifaceted public health programs.
