Overview

Laboratory Technician Supervisor is a supervisory role within HDRL (HIV Diagnostic and Reference Laboratory) supporting CAP accreditation. The incumbent performs laboratory procedures and provides supervision to section technicians. The position supports the Diagnostics and Countermeasures Branch (DCB)/Molecular Department and works with the HDRL Laboratory Director, Associate Laboratory Director, and Quality Assurance Manager to establish standards and develop or modify analytical and testing methods.

Responsibilities
  • Perform laboratory procedures in the Molecular Laboratory Section and, in the absence of the Serology Technical Supervisor, support the Clinical Serology Section.
  • Provide supervision to section technicians to ensure efficient and accurate analyses and testing.
  • Establish standards and collaborate to develop or modify analytical and testing methods.
  • Monitor and ensure the efficiency and accuracy of all analyses and testing conducted by the laboratory.
  • Work in a multidisciplinary environment with US Military personnel, Army Civilian staff, Contractors, and visiting scientists.
Context

The HDRL provides clinical laboratory support for DoD Medical Treatment Facilities, US Army European Command, US Army Central Command, US Medical Entrance Processing Command, and US Military research initiatives. It conducts molecular diagnostic, clinical and therapeutic monitoring assays, including qualitative and quantitative HIV/HCV/GC/CT/TV/MGen/SARS-CoV-2 testing, HIV drug resistance genotyping, and related research molecular assays, as well as clinical immunological and serological assays.
