NRI Healthcare is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) for a Temp-to-Hire opportunity with a respected specialty medical practice in Washington, DC.
The ideal candidate will be a dependable healthcare professional with strong clinical and administrative skills who thrives in a fast-paced patient care environment.
Previous dialysis or nephrology experience is highly preferred but not required.
- Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program
- Minimum of one (1) year of recent Medical Assistant experience in a clinical setting
- Current BLS/CPR certification
- Proficient in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems
- Excellent communication and patient care skills
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a healthcare team
- Experience in dialysis, nephrology, or chronic disease management
- Experience with vital signs, specimen collection, EKGs, and phlebotomy
- Familiarity with insurance verification and prior authorizations
- Prepare patients for examinations and treatments
- Obtain and document vital signs, medical histories, and chief complaints
- Assist providers during examinations and minor procedures
- Perform EKGs, phlebotomy, specimen collection, and other clinical duties within scope of practice
- Administer medications and injections as directed and permitted by state regulations
- Provide patient education and reinforce provider instructions
- Prepare and stock examination rooms
- Clean and sterilize instruments and equipment
- Monitor and maintain clinical supplies and inventory
- Ensure proper infection control and safety procedures are followed
- Assist with coordination of patient care and follow-up appointments
- Schedule appointments and coordinate patient flow
- Verify insurance information and obtain authorizations as needed
- Maintain accurate patient documentation in the EMR
- Answer phones, respond to patient inquiries, and assist with front-office support when needed
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality
- Adhere to OSHA safety standards and infection prevention protocols
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all patient interactions
- Support quality improvement initiatives and maintain a high standard of patient care
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to assist patients with mobility when necessary
Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds - Manual dexterity required for clinical procedures and documentation
